Identifying the Dominant Personality and Attitudinal Traits in Computer Science Students

 A preliminary study has been undertaken at three Universities in the United Kingdom to identify some learning preferences and personality bias in computer science students with a view to understanding more clearly their general approach to learning. This paper presents aggregated results from the three cohorts of students, comparing their personality bias with results obtained from other studies including those of the general, science, and engineering populations. The results suggest that collectively, computer scientists have a different personality from both engineers and scientists. Personality trait appears to have little influence on examination performance. Index Terms  Examination performance, learning preferences, Myers-Briggs, personality.
